Crisis Resolution Center

Koinonia Family Services and the County of Placer are collaborating in a team effort to offer Placer County residents the family resources of the Crisis Resolution Center (CRC). Since 2002, the Crisis Resolution Center program has provided solution-focused family intervention which resolves family crises and establishes reunification of children ages 12-17 with their families.

The Crisis Resolution Center, located in Loomis California, is a six-bed (co-ed) group home facility with counseling facilities, fully licensed and professionally staffed to provide out-client family services and short-term residential care. Our staff is composed of well-trained house parents, child care workers and a master's-level social worker who provides quality relationship counseling, conflict resolution, parent-child training and professional referral services. Young people at the Crisis Resolution Center experience a stable, well-supervised schedule of events.

All services are designed to empower families to become proactive and creative problem-solvers and "to bring real hope to Placer County caregivers and teen in crisis through creative interventions and relational conflict resolution."

Short-term Residential Services

  • Residential Phase 1: Orientation & Crisis De-escalation
During this time youth will remain at the facility under staff supervision and support. The focus will be on de-escalating the youth and carefully evaluating his or her circumstances and behavior. During this phase the youth will also be instructed in the expectations, schedules and activities of the facility.
  • Residential Phase 2: Outreach and Reunification
The focus in this phase is upon resolving the family crisis issues that led to the youth's placement at the CRC and to reunify the youth with his or her family. Emphasis will be upon providing parents/guardians and teens with the resources and skills needed to resolve the crisis issue and reunify the youth. A reunification plan will be developed with family members identifying the roles and responsibilities of the youth and the guardians(s) needed for successful reunification.
  • Residential Phase 3: Aftercare
Once the youth is reunified with his or her family the aftercare phase begins. This includes up to 3 aftercare follow-up meetings between the CRC social worker, guardians and the youth. The focus will be on assisting the family in developing an aftercare plan out lining each other's responsibilities in maintaining the successful reunification. The plan will further involve identifying appropriate community and county-based services that will help the family toward long-term stabilization.

By the use of technology and true collaboration the CRC has become an import part in keeping at risk youths and families "out of the system." Each County entity and the CRC staff work together to create an individual plan for each youth and family with proven successful results.

The Crisis Resolution Center provides a toll-free 24-hour telephone number (available to teens and family members residing in Placer County only) for referrals, personal support, advice and counsel to teens and parents/caregivers/guardians in crisis.
