May 7th was not just a beautiful day for golf; it was also a perfect day for members of the Placer County community to join together in support of local foster youth. Koinonia’s 7th Annual Golf Tournament had been cancelled last year due to the worldwide pandemic that was detrimental to so many other events. Perhaps that is why this year’s tournament felt so special – people were eager to come together as a community after such a challenging year. At The Ridge golf course in Auburn, everyone was there for one, united purpose, golfing for a good cause. 100% of the proceeds from the tournament go directly to local foster and adoptive youth, so all the participants were pouring directly back into their community.

Many times when people attend a charity event or make a donation, they’re unsure about what percentage actually goes to the cause they are supporting. At Koinonia, all of the donations we receive go directly towards helping our kids. Many times, foster youth come to us with little to no possessions. We have a huge need for essentials like clothing, school supplies, car seats, etc. But we don’t like to stop there. Foster youth deserve to thrive instead of just survive. When we receive monetary donations, we’re able to fund things like:

  • Summer Camp
  • Tutoring
  • Laptops for School
  • Braces
  • Senior Portraits
  • Music Classes
  • Therapeutic Services
  • Birthday Wishes

As a result of this fundraising event, Koinonia will be able to fully fund many of these needs. The generosity of our community is truly humbling and we are pleased to announce this year’s tournament raised over $30,000 for local foster youth! Everyone who participated in this event made a positive difference in the life of a child and the local businesses who sponsored this year’s tournament have our sincere gratitude.*
